Bachelor Of Aviation Enginering

Level Bachelor
Graduation Title S.T.
Accreditation Good
Study Duration 4 Years (8 Semesters)
The Aerospace / Aeronautical Engineering Study Program is an academic unit focusing on aircraft design, manufacturing, maintenance, avionics systems, and aerospace operations. The program integrates aerodynamic engineering sciences, modern technological advancements (such as UAVs/drones, smart avionics, and sustainable aviation systems), and aviation technopreneurship to cultivate innovative, adaptive, high-integrity, and globally competitive aerospace engineers.
Vision
To become a leading Aerospace Engineering Study Program that integrates aerospace science, modern aviation technology, and aviation-technopreneurship to create a meaningful impact on the aviation industry and society while achieving global competitiveness.
Mission
To deliver high-quality aeronautical engineering education integrating aerospace science, modern technology, and technopreneurship within a practice-based, innovative, and adaptive learning environment. To advance applied research and aerospace engineering innovations that provide practical solutions to aviation industry challenges, energy efficiency, and aerial technologies. To conduct community engagement grounded in aeronautical engineering expertise and technopreneurship approaches to support practical aerial technology applications (such as drone-based mapping and logistics). To nurture future aerospace engineers with high integrity, professionalism, ethical standards, and a technology-entrepreneurial mindset. To strengthen strategic partnerships with airlines, maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) facilities, aviation authorities, and global institutions to enhance graduate quality and international standing.

Graduates can work at aircraft manufacturers, airlines, maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) companies, research institutes, aerospace startups, and government agencies such as the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, National Transportation Safety Committee (NTSC/KNKT), and BRIN. Additionally, graduates may launch technology-based ventures or pursue postgraduate studies.

Propulsion and green aviation are taught across all three concentrations. Rocketry can be chosen as a final project topic. All three concentrations build upon a common foundation, including:

  • Aerodynamics and Aircraft System Design
Aerodynamic analysis and testing, aircraft structures and materials, as well as system-level aircraft design, including its manufacturing processes.
  • Flight Mechanics, Control, and Autonomous Systems
Deepening flight mechanics: flight performance, stability and control, navigation and avionics, as well as systems enabling unmanned aircraft to fly and share airspace safely. This concentration also covers astrodynamics and space mission design, focusing on trajectory and orbit planning for spacecraft.
  • Aircraft Maintenance and Airline Operations
Maintenance systems, inspection, reliability, and airworthiness, along with how airlines plan and operate their fleets.
  • Aircraft Systems Design Engineer
Handles aerodynamics, structures, and aircraft systems, from concept to manufacturing.
  • Flight Mechanics and Control Engineer
Analyzes flight performance, stability, and aircraft control.
  • Avionics and Autonomous Systems Engineer
Develops aircraft electronics, navigation, and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) systems.
  • Aircraft Maintenance Engineer
Executes and manages aircraft maintenance and repair operations.
  • Flight Operations Officer
Plans each flight and monitors it alongside pilots, covering routing, fuel, weather, and aircraft performance.
  • Airline Technical Services Engineer
Plans and monitors continuous maintenance, reliability, and airworthiness of airline fleets.
  • Aviation Safety and Quality Engineer
Maintains safety and quality standards across the aviation industry.
  • Research and Development Engineer
Researches and develops new aerospace technologies, including satellite and space missions.
  • Aviation Regulator and Inspector
Works in civil aviation authorities or government agencies focusing on certification, airworthiness oversight, and safety investigation.
  • Aerodynamics and Computation Laboratory
Wind tunnel testing for airflow and aerodynamic forces, alongside design and simulation software for aerodynamics, structures, and flight systems.
  • Aerospace Systems Laboratory
Flight simulation, avionics, and instrumentation, as well as a space for students to assemble and test integrated systems, including drones, small rockets, and satellite subsystems.
  • Aircraft Maintenance Workshop
Practical hands-on training covering aircraft components, mechanical systems, materials, and fundamentals of aircraft maintenance.
  • Globally Oriented Curriculum
Lectures are conducted in English using international-standard textbooks, with curricula modeled after leading overseas aerospace engineering programs. Students can also participate in study abroad programs or international internships through IULI's partner institutions. Group projects, reports, and presentations are all completed in English, ensuring graduates are well-prepared for international working environments.
  • Hands-on & Project-Based Learning
Students apply theoretical knowledge through practical labs, simulations, and group engineering projects. They assemble and test fully functional systems, such as wind tunnel test models, avionics and instrumentation packages, or unmanned aerial vehicles (drones).
  • Next-Generation Aerospace Technology
Coursework and final thesis topics align with future industry trends, including green aviation, autonomous systems, and space technology.
  • Aviation Technopreneurship
Students learn to translate engineering concepts into commercial products—from identifying market needs and prototyping to formulating comprehensive business plans. This equips them to join aerospace startups or launch their own ventures.
  • Strong Industry Connections
During their studies, students complete internships with commercial airlines, aircraft maintenance enterprises like GMF AeroAsia, and aeronautics, satellite, and rocket research centers under BRIN's Aeronautics and Space Research Organization (ORPA). Capstone and thesis projects often address real-world industry challenges provided by these institutions.
  • Research-Active Faculty
Faculty research spans experimental and computational fluid dynamics, flight mechanics and astrodynamics, autonomous systems, as well as airline operations and aircraft maintenance. Students can directly participate in these cutting-edge research projects through their final thesis.
