From Research to Industry: IULI Food Technology Lecturer Reveals Indonesia’s Healthy Snacking Trends at Fi Asia 2026 Jakarta
Dr. Hendry Noer Fadlillah presented consumer research findings on changing Indonesian consumer preferences for snack products that are healthier, more functional, and aligned with their lifestyles.

Jakarta, September 16, 2026. Dr. Hendry Noer Fadlillah, S.T.P., M.P., a lecturer from the Food Technology Study Program at Universitas Lintas Internasional Indonesia (IULI), presented his research findings on the evolving trends in snack consumption in Indonesia at Food Ingredients Asia (Fi Asia) Indonesia 2026.
The presentation, titled “The Rise of Healthy Snacking in Indonesia: Insights from Consumer Research,” was held on September 16, 2026, at the Snack Bar area presented by INAVIGA Indonesia during Fi Asia 2026 at Jakarta International Expo (JIExpo), Jakarta. During the session, Dr. Hendry discussed changes in Indonesian consumer behavior, highlighting how health, functionality, convenience, and alignment with consumers’ lifestyles are increasingly influencing their choices of snack products.
Consumer Research to Support Product Innovation
In his presentation, Dr. Hendry discussed consumer research findings that provide insights into changing Indonesian consumer preferences toward snack products. These changes indicate that snacking is no longer solely associated with satisfying hunger, but is increasingly connected to the demand for products that are healthier, functional, convenient, and aligned with consumers’ lifestyles.
The topic is closely aligned with the focus of the Snack Bar featured at Fi Asia Indonesia 2026. The Snack Bar is a special feature highlighting the latest trends, product innovations, and commercial developments in Indonesia’s growing snack industry.
Through a data-driven consumer research approach, Dr. Hendry’s research provides a scientific perspective on the factors influencing purchasing decisions, emerging health trends, changing consumer expectations, and the direction of snack product innovation in Indonesia. The official Fi Asia agenda states that the session was designed to provide evidence-based insights that can be translated into product development and business strategies within the snack industry.
Snack Bar Brings Together Professionals from Indonesia and Abroad
Dr. Hendry was the first speaker in a series of talk show sessions presented by INAVIGA Indonesia during Fi Asia Indonesia 2026. The program was part of a series of educational and knowledge-sharing activities that brought together academics, researchers, industry professionals, associations, regulators, and other stakeholders in the food sector.
Fi Asia Indonesia is one of the key events within the food ingredients industry ecosystem in the region. In 2026, Fi Asia marked its 30th edition and was held over three days, from September 16–18, 2026, at JIExpo Jakarta. The organizers recorded an event scale of more than 24,000 participants, over 700 branded suppliers, and approximately 28,000 m² of exhibition space.
In addition to the Snack Bar, Fi Asia Indonesia 2026 featured various programs, including the Fi Conference and Seminar, Technical Presentations, Innovation Tours, Innovation Zone, Sustainability Square, and business matching sessions. These programs were designed to connect industry stakeholders while encouraging knowledge exchange, innovation, and business opportunities across the food and beverage sector.
IULI Strengthens Academic–Industry Collaboration
Dr. Hendry’s participation as a speaker at the international event represents one of IULI’s academic contributions in bringing research findings into industry discussions.
This involvement also reflects the commitment of IULI’s Food Technology Study Program to strengthening the connection between education, research, and the needs of the food industry. Research on consumer behavior and preferences can serve as an important foundation for developing food products that are increasingly relevant to market needs.
For IULI, the involvement of its lecturers in industry forums such as Fi Asia serves as an opportunity to strengthen the university’s role as a strategic partner in research, innovation, human resource development, and addressing challenges within the food industry.
“From Research to Industry: Bringing Consumer Insights into Food Innovation.”
Through increasingly strong collaboration between academia and industry, IULI continues to encourage the application of scientific knowledge and research findings to address the dynamics of the food industry and the evolving needs of today’s consumers.
